When a pipeline contractor working for Mobil Producing Nigeria (MPN), an Exxon Mobil Corporation affiliate, installed 2,000 tons of specialized pipelines in the Edop-ldoho field offshore Akwa Ibom State, it caused quite a stir within the country's oil and natural gas industry- and with good reason. The 24-inch-diameter pipes, manufactured by SCC Mills Abuja and coated by Adamac Pipes Coating and Services Limited, represented the first time that the industry used made-in-Nigeria pipes in an offshore oil and gas installation here.
