摘要

An elevated intracranial pressure subsequent to brain swelling is the single most frequent cause of death in head injured patients. Analysis by the American Traumatic Coma Data Bank indicates that the probability of mortality and morbidity increases with time when intracranial pressure is elevated above 20 mm Hg. Some previous studies reported that suppression of the inflammatory response reduces brain edema and tissue damage and improves functional outcome in experimental intracranial hemorrhage.
