An interesting constraint on cutting corners

This note arose from a conversation with Tony Robin and Michael Fox at the 2008 M.A. Conference in which they raised the question of which triangles arise as 'corner cross-sections' of a cube or tetrahedron. Tony quickly dealt with the cube and set me thinking about the tetrahedron.
