EFFICACY OF PLANT EXTRACTS AGAINST SEED-BORNE INFECTION OF RHIZOCTONIA BATATICOLA AND FUSARIUM OXYSPORUM IN BOTTLE GOURD SEEDS

Leaf extracts of twelve plant species were screened for controlling infection of Rhizoctonia bataticola and Fusarium ixysporum in bottle gourd seed. All plant extracts proved superior for controlling incidence of pathogen. Catharanthus roseus md Dalbergia sissoo were however the most effective and controlled the seed infection of Rhizoctonia bataticola and Fusarium jxysporum respectively. Seed germination and seedling vigour were also increased in seed treated with Catharanthus roseus and Dalbergia sissoo.
