Historically, erection hardness was a critical component of sexual health evaluation, taken during sexual history taking. However, with the introduction of sildenafil citrate and the development, validation, and publication of the International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF) [1], a shift occurred, with greater focus-in hindsight an overfocus-on the use of validated instruments in erectile function assessment. Accordingly, reduced emphasis was placed on good sexual history taking and the use of rigidity assessments.
