The Effects of the Women's Health Initiative on Its 10th Year Anniversary

It is important to remember the past. Joyce Appleby once said: "Our sense of worth, of well-being, even our sanity depends upon our remembering. But, alas, our sense of worth, our well-being, our sanity also depend upon our forgetting" [1]. The Journal of Sexual Medicine (JSM) has many relevant roles to play in the field of sexual medicine, but one vital role is to recall significant, noteworthy, and momentous events that have helped shape the course of sexual health—its study, diagnosis, and treatment. Confucius once said: "Study the past, if you would divine the future" [2]. The consequences to women's sexual health by the findings of the Women's Health Initiative (WHI) should be forever remembered and not ever forgotten so they will not be repeated.
