Each January, we start with a clean slate, making New Year's resolutions and hoping we will have a better year than in the past. Our resolutions are personal promises-that we as individuals will lose weight or be more attentive to our families, be more intimate with our partners, or simply treat ourselves better. Each year, we start with heads held high, with good intentions and excess energy . . . but will it last?
