Chloramphenicol (CAP), ciprofloxacin (CIP), nitrofuran antibiotics (NFA) and their metabolites in fishery products were determined simultaneously by a simple method with capillary electrophoresis. The optimal buffer consisted of 20 mmol L-1 sodium dihydrogen phosphate, 20 mmol L-1 disodium hydrogen phosphate, 80 mmol L-1 sodium deoxycholate, and 10 % methanol (v/v), pH 9.0. Under the best conditions, all analytes were separated completely. The method presented good linearity (r a parts per thousand yen 0.9997) for CAP, CIP and NFA in the range of 5-100 mu g mL(-1), and for nitrofuran metabolites in the range of 1-25 mu g mL(-1). The limit of detection for each compound was estimated as 0.3-1.5 mu g kg(-1) (S/N = 3) in fishery products. The recoveries ranged from 81.5 to 114.5 %. Finally, the method was applied to real food samples, but neither antibiotics nor metabolites were found.
