Triterpene Glycosides of Fatsia japonica. IV. Structure of Glycosides D_1 and D_2 From Seeds

Seeds of Fatsia japonica (Araliaceae) afforded the known hederagenin 3-O-#beta#-D-glucopyranosyl-(1->2)-O-#alpha#-L-arabinopyranoside and the new triterpene glycoside D_2, for which the structure hederagenin 3-O-#beta#-D-galactoyransoyl-(1->2)-O-#alpha#-L-arabinoyranoside was proposed based on chemical methods and NMR spectroscopy.
