Cinnamomum griffithii Meisn. is an indigenous species from the Philippines that is also found in West Malesia. Kostermans considers this as a distinct species but notes a very close similarity to C. iners [1]. This study was conducted as part of our research on the chemical constituents of Cinnamomum species found in the Philippines. We earlier reported the isolation of safrol and eugenol from the bark, polyprenol from the leaves and trilinolein from the roots [2].
