摘要

TO THE EDITOR: Our antimicrobial stewardship program (ASP) reviewed medical records of adults admitted to a 700-bed academic university hospital during two 18-month periods (1999-2000 and 2007-2008) to determine whether antimicrobial susceptibility test (AST) results prompted clinicians to change antimicrobial therapy for methicillin-susceptible Staphylococcus aureus (MSSA) bloodstream infections (BSIs) and, if not, to assess reasons why clinicians did not change therapy. We sought to identify areas for improvement and to determine whether clinicians used antimicrobials introduced during the intervening 10 years instead of older agents.
