Isolated medial collateral ligament (MCL) injuries generally are treated nonoperatively, while cruciate ligament injuries usually are repaired or reconstructed. When injuries to all three structures occur concomitantly, treatment is more challenging.18 An understanding of the anatomy, bio-mechanics, and mechanisms of injury is essential to the appropriate treatment of medial side knee injuries, especially those that occur with injuries to other ligaments.
