No Association between Polymorphisms in the Interleukin-15 Gene and Early-Onset Psoriasis in a UK Cohort Suggests Heterogeneity for this Susceptibility Locus Identified in Chinese Psoriasis Patients

We have shown no evidence of an association between polymorphisms in the IL15 gene and early-onset psoriasis in a UK cohort. Furthermore, we found profound differences in the allele frequencies of four variants in Chinese and UK cohorts, suggesting a difference in geneticdeterminants of disease in these two populations.Recruitment of Type 1 psoriasis patients for the case cohort was coordinated through the Dermatology Centre, Hope Hospital, The University of Manchester, Manchester, UK. All patients gave written informed consent and the study was approved by the Salford and Trafford Local Research Ethics Committee and conducted according to Declaration of Helsinki Principles.
