Six super sites: Forests are playing a key role this year in encouraging Scots to reconnect with their roots

This year, Scots from across the world are being encouraged to return home for the nationwide Year of Homecoming. As part of the celebrations of all things Scottish, the Forestry Commission Scotland and the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland (RCAHMS) have organised Forest Heritage Scotland, a focus on sites where remnants of lost industries and forgotten communities can be found. The idea is to encourage people of Scottish descent to delve into their family history to discover their own connections with the sites.
