Swertia pseudochinensis, a New Plant Source of Andrographolide

The annual plant Swertia pseudochinensis Hara belongs to the Swertia genus of the Gentianaceae family and is distributed mainly in North China. It is used in Chinese folk medicine for the treatment of dyspepsia, gastritis, jaundice, and hepatitis [1]. Swertia pseudochinensis Hara, along with other plants of the Swertia genus, is known as a rich source of xanthonoids, iridoids, flavonoids, and triterpenoids [2]. In this report, we describe the isolation and identification of andrographolide and 13 other known compounds.
