摘要

Though it was not feasible to define the contribution of placental tissue or amniotic fluid to a vertical spread of DENV [2], virological and molecular studies on pregnant women would be desirable in dengue endemic areas. Meanwhile, the stored serum and breast-milk samples from the mother and neonate should be examined for DENV non-structural protein, NS1. The kinetics of appearance and persistence of NS 1 antigen in breast milk would be beneficial in DENV endemic areas where facilities for reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) are not available.
