Dramatic effect of low-dose oral steroid on elephantiasic pretibial myxedema

We present herein the first report that a case of elephantia-sic pretibial myxedema that was successfully treated with an oral administration of low dose steroid.A 39-year-old male presented with a 2-year history of non-tender, non-erythematous, non-pruritic nodules on his bilateral shins. The patient was diagnosed as Graves' disease 2 years ago, but voluntarily left treatment. The lesions on his bilateral shins deteriorated as new lesions developed. On physical examination, the patient presented non-erythematous, indurated nodules with no ulcers on the lateral, anterior, and posterior aspects of both shins (Fig. 1a) and he did not have exophthalmos.
