Although there is an ongoing debate in the United States about the severity of the medical malpractice litigation crisis, the fact remains that some patients sue their health care providers. When this occurs, the costs of fully litigating a complaint are staggering and resulting jury damage awards may be extreme. In addition, court systems throughout the country are taking a financial beating because they must spend a lot of money to manage medical malpractice litigation.
