Honesty Is the Best Policy

Not surprisingly, Americans vary in their attitudes toward sex. As part of a general culture war, some people advocate teaching abstinence-only sex education in schools, while others advocate teaching comprehensive sex education. State and federal policies have largely reflected the former position rather than the latter. The problems associated with the general absence of federal and state statutes mandating any level of sex education are exacerbated by the general absence of federal or state laws requiring that accurate information be taught in whatever sex education is provided.
