Effect of DDT on reproductive performance of White Leghorn cockerels.

The experiment was designed with 7 groups of 30-week-old cockerels, out of which 2 were control groups and 5 test groups, to study the effect of various doses of DDT (6.25, 12.5, 25, 37.5 and 50 mg/kg bw daily) on the semen quality, gross and histopathology of testes. A decrease in the volume of semen, gross motility, live spermatozoa and spermatozoa concentration with an increase in whole semen cholesterol were noticed with an increased dose of DDT, in a dose dependent manner. In the higher dosagegroups, spermatozoa with macroheads were observed.
