Studies on body weights of Assam local goats and their crosses with Beetal

Data of body weights (6,9 and 12 months) of Assam Local and their crosses with Beetal were included. Increasing trend of body weight with increase in Beetal inheritance was observed. Singlets were heavier than the multiple born kids, while the males were heavier over the females. The heritability estimates were 0.26+-0.12, 0.16+-0.11 and 0.31 +- 0.21 respectively for body weights at 6,9 and 12 months of age. The genetic and phenotypic correlations of body weights at 6 and 9 months with 12 months were medium to high and positive.
