Comparative pharmacokinetics of amikacin in buffalo calves following its intramuscular and subcutaneous administration.

A single dose of 7.5 mg/kg body weight of amikacin was given i.m. or s.c. to the same group of 6 buffalo calves at an interval of 3 weeks. The plasma levels of the drug were measured at 10 intervals (from 5-360 min) after injection, and various pharmacokinetic values were recorded. A higher steady state antibiotic concentration was achieved by i.m. injection.
