Comparative Study among Single Source Selection Indices in 'M' Strain of White Leghorn Egg Type Chicken

The present study was undertaken to compare the utility of sixteen selection indices constructed on the basis of genetic gains, index efficiency, relative efficiency and aggregate economic gain The data on 1937 pullets of 'M' strain of White leghorn wereutilized for the present study. The range of AH was -5.00 to 4.93 in this study across all indices. The genetic response in Part term Egg Production and Egg Weight was in the range of -2.13 to 0.75 and -0.01 to 0.32, respectively. The present study revealed that index efficiency was not directly proportional to the number of component traits.
