Unilateral Polydactyly in a Holstein Friesian Heifer

A 10 month old Holstein Friesian heifer was examined with an extra digit on the medial side of the left forelimb since birth. Mild lameness and widening of the interdigital space was seen. Amputation of firmly attached extra digit was done under general anaesthesia. Wiring at the tip of the hoof was done to reduce the widening of interdigital space. Uneventful recovery recorded.
