Effect of Paddy Straw and Pine Leaves as Bedding Material on the Live Performance of Broiler Chicks

The present study was conducted on Vencob chicks in winter season to evaluate the effect of paddy straw and pine leaves as bedding material on the performance of broiler chicks. For this purpose, day old 120 Vencob chicks were procured from Tawi Hatcheries Pvt. Ltd. Jammu. The growth parameters tested in the experiment were body weight, body weight gain, FCR and carcass characteristics. It was concluded that performance of broiler chicks reared on paddy straw and pine leaves litter material gained body weight and FCR comparable with paddy husk. Manurial value, parasitic & bacterial count was statistically similar.
