Vaginal fold prolapse in a 3 1/2 years old Lhasa apso pregnant bitch and its surgical management is reported. Vaginal fold prolapse is an exaggerated response of the caudal ventral vaginal epithelium to estrogen, that results in excessive edema and enlargement of the mucosai folds of the vaginal floor cranial to the urethral orifice in such a manner that tissue protrude through the vulval labia. This disorder occurs at the first estrus or become evident during later estrous cycles (Purswelt, 1995) and rarely, it may be associated with parturition (Johnston, 1989; Grooters, 1994), The present paper describes the vaginal fold prolapse in a pregnant bitch and its surgical management.
