Characterization of capripox virus isolated from field outbreak in goats

Capripox is a highly contagious viral disease of goats, characterized by fever, ocular and nasal discharge and pox lesions on the skin, respiratory and gastrointestinal mucosa. Serological differences. among capripox virus (CPV) has not been reported. However, possibility of appearance of new variant cannot be ruled out. Similarly, the variation in immunogenicity within a strain is also possible. The present communication reports characterization of CPV isolated from field outbreak in goats and designated as Pantnagar isolate.
