Ten dogs with thoracic oesophageal obstructions, seven having a piece of bone and three had Spirocerca lupi nodule were succeefully treated by different surgical and non-surgical techniques. The different techniques used were; pushing thoracic oesophageal foreign body into stomach by infant feeding tube (1/10), thoracotomy and oesophagotomy (5/10), thoracotomy and oesophageal resection and anastamosis (3/10), and gastrotomy (1/10). All the animals showed uneventful recoveries.
