Haemodynamic and ECG studies following pancuronium and pipecuronium neuromuscular block in canines.

In 12 dogs, weighing 10-15 kg, premedication with atropine was followed by triflupromazine and thiopentone administration; anaesthesia was maintained with nitrous oxide. After preliminary studies to find the optimum dose for muscle relaxation, pancuronium bromide or pipecuronium bromide was given at 0.05 mg/kg body weight, i.v. Haemodynamic studies and ECG recordings were made during and after neuromuscular block. It was found that pipecuronium provided better haemodynamic and cardiovascular stability than pancuronium.
