Effect of Disbudding Pre-Medication on Physiology, Gut Health and Body Measurements in Beetal Kids

Twenty four Beetal kids were randomly distributed, in D0 (control), DL (2% Lignocaine), DM (Meloxicam) and DL+M (Lignocaine and Meloxi-cam), to see the effect of disbudding pre-medica-tion on physiological responses, gut health and body measurements under stall-fed conditions. No effect of disbudding pre-medication was observed on physiological responses except evening respiration rate which was significantly higher (P<0.05) in DL than control and other two groups. Gut health was not affected by stress of disbudding. The body measurements were not affected by treatment except pin-to-pin and hip-to-hip distance. Study emphasized the necessity of pre-medication disbudding for better future productivity and performance of the animals.
