Dermatophytosis due to Trichophyton mentagrophytes in a kid

Dermatophytosis (Ringworm) is the common fungal infection of the superficial, keratinized structures of the skin, hair and claws of livestock. In goats dermatophytosis is most commonly caused by Trichophyton verrucosum, T. mentagrophytes and less frequently by Microsproum canis (Pier et al., 1994). Common lesions of dermtophytosis are seen as annular-uneven to diffuse areas of alopecia, scaling, erythema, and yellowish crusts on the face, head, pinnae, neck, and legs. In goats dermatophytosis is commonly caused by T. Verrucosum but the present case discusses about the rare incidence of T. mentagrophytes in a kid.
