Cytophilic and opsonin adhering antibodies in rabbits vaccinated and challenge infected with Pasteurella multocida.

Cytophilic and opsonin-adhering antibodies were detected after vaccination with a P. multocida oil adjuvant vaccine, using the rosette technique on monolayers of peritoneal macrophages from apparently healthy adult albino mice. Both the types of antibodies were detected by day 7 after vaccination, and had increased by days 14 and 21 after vaccination. Opsonin-adhering antibody titres at various intervals after vaccination were higher than those of cytophilic antibodies. Infection with P. multocida(P52) organisms induced a continuous rise in the levels of both cytophilic and opsonin-adhering antibodies, indicating an intense and accelerated memory response.
