Animal schistosomosis is a well spread snail borne trematode infection in India and is regarded as fifth major helminthosis of domestic animals in the subcontinent (Sumanth et al., 2004). S. spindale has been reported to affect domestic ruminants of Kerala (Rajamohanan, 1972). The disease is manifested as chronic diarrhoeic disease in cattle throughout Kerala, if a large number of worms inhabit the mesenteric veins. A systematic study on prevalence of the disease based on mesenteric worm count technique was conducted.
