Serological and PCR Confirmation of Brucella Suis Abortion in Swine

摘要

Brucellosis caused by Brucella suis affects pigs and can transiently infect other species such as cattle, horses, rabbits, dogs and humans. Among zoonotic diseases, brucellosis is one of the most common zoonoses accounting for more than 500,000 casesannually in the world (Pappas et al., 2006). Diagnosis of swine brucellosis and its spread to animal handlers (zoonotic infection) by isolation, serology and PGR are reported in this paper.
