Prevalence of Helminth Parasites in Wild Animals of Zoological Park at Indore

A study was conducted to explore the degree of endoparasitic infection in captive animals in Kamla Nehru Prani Sangrahalaya, Indore. Out of 347 faecal samples screened, 149 samples were positive indicating 42.90% prevalence. The percentage of infection was more in the animals of herds than in individual enclosures. Among helminth parasites, the prevalence of nematodal infection was the highest suggestive of eggs and larvae in soil and pasture. Although, the overall prevalence of helminth parasites incaptive wild animals was moderate, efforts are still needed for its control and management.
