Acquired traumatic ruminal fistula in bovine.

An 8-year-old cow with history of left abdominal trauma caused by an iron rod, and two bullocks with chronic fistulous tract on the left paralumbar fossa due to bloat treatment are reported. Examination of the left paralumbar fossa of the cow revealed a big gaping wound in the last intercostal space with greenish discharge. The animals were diagnosed with rumen fistula and subjected to surgical operation of the rumen. The animals were treated with antibiotics for five days. The animals completely recovered after the surgery.
