Coir--the coconut fibre is available in abundance.depending on the process of extracting the fibre from the husk,coir is classified into two varieties--white coir and brown coir.white coir is produced from husks of mature green coconuts by subjecting them to a retting process of 6 to 8 months in the back waters followed by beating of the retted husks with millet against a log for thrashing out the pith.
