Making Affordable Care Act Medications Affordable

Like many of you, I listen to my patients, colleagues, family, and friends complain about how much their medications cost, even those with good insurance. Sometimes a patient reluctantly confesses that the reason her blood pressure is elevated is not because her hypertension is worse, but because she can no longer afford the medications that have been prescribed. It is hard for her to admit that to me. It is also hard for me to know how to help after we have explored every option to find the lowest cost or subsidized drugs.
