Trade and technology diffusion in latin america

摘要

The main objective of this article is to measure the extent to which technology is diffused via international trade from industrial countries to Latin America.It also assesses the role that international trade within the region plays in this process of technology diffusion.The estimates suggest the existence of trade-related technology diffusion from the North.The results are robust for different specifications of the model.Evidence is also found suggesting that trade among the Latin American countries serves as an additional mechanism by which the technology from the industrial countries is indirectly diffused across the region.
