Current epidemiology of childhood tuberculous meningitis in Greece: A 10-year population-based study

Greece has a low tuberculosis (TB) burden, with an annual notification rate of 6.1 cases/100000 population; paediatric TB cases account for 4-7% of the total.1 To evaluate the epidemiological and clinical characteristics of tuberculous meningitis (TBM) among children in Greece in the last decade (2001-2010), a national multicentre retrospective cohort study was performed throughout 11 hospital referral centres for childhood TB.
