Dear Editor: The article "Knowledge and Experiences of Low-Income Patients with Natural Family Planning" by Witt, McEvers, and Kelly1 provides insight and proof that education is of extreme importance with family planning. Working in an area with a high level of low-income patients, I can attest to the lack of knowledge these patients possess when it comes to birth control of any form. Given the numerous options available for birth control/family planning, it is important to ascertain what knowledge the patient possesses about the different forms of birth control. Witt et al recommend to ask during the interview phase what the patient's current form of birth control is, along with others that have been tried in the past.
