This edition has a diversity of topics and locations. The first article, by Baars, Evers and Arntz, explores the topic of 'performance management', applied to mental health, and the purposes served by different (types of) indicators, by way of a literature review and related commentary.The second article, by Bechange, looks at the determinants of success for projects handled by NGOs dealing with HIV/AIDS in Uganda (Rakai). Using qualitative research, it seeks to identify factors-both 'technical' and human-which are related to effective accomplishments from the 'grassroots'.
