On July 10, the Ontario Flue Cured Tobacco Grower's Marketing Board (OFCTGMB) held their 40th annual meeting at the Delhi and District German Home, in Delhi, Ontario. Tobacco board chairman Frank Menich directed only positive comments about growers during the third year of the stable crop size concept. This concept is based on the assumption that stable quality, supply and marketing will yield a stable crop size. "In 1996, growers did a great job and benefited from an understanding of what stable marketing means" Menich said to the crowd. "Producers felt that prices were favourable. This resulted in a very low combined percentage of no bids and rejects averaging 4.2 per cent as compared to 14.6 per cent in 1995."
