Farmers from all across Ontario turn out in droves to attend recent information session. Farmers from all across Ontario recently flocked to the Delhi German Home to take part in a day long Agricultural Liming information session. 'Lime and the Earth- A Natural Balance', was a forum organized by a small committee of industry people and headed by Jody Bodnar, a vegetable crop advisor at the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA), Simcoe Station. This event was held on Apriloutline of the agenda of the day by Tom Sawyer, TFIO. Following this was the first speaker for the morning session, Dr. Ron Bayert, of Agriculture Canada in Delhi. Bayert informed those in attendance of Soil Chemistry and he enforced the fact that pH isthe most important thing to consider when talking about soil chemistry. He reminded the group that pH defines the acidity or alkalinity of the soil, and it is imperative to keep soils at reasonable levels. "Soil acidity is a naturally occurring thing," Bayert explained.
