Bioefficacy of dazomet in tomato nursery

Field experiments were conducted thrice during at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University on a Sandy clay loam soil to study the bioefficacy of dazomet in tomato nursery. Application of dazomet at 60g m~2 effectively controlled the root knot nematode Meloidgyne incognita and the weed species Echinoch/oa colonum, Trianthema portulacastrum, Gynondropsis pentaphylla and Dactyloctenium aegyptium. The dehydrogenase activity of the soil was also significantly affected by the application of dazomet; however thepopulation was slowly building up at five days after dazomet application. Dazomet 30 g m~(-2) was also effective against root knot nematode and weeds, although to a lesser extent than 60 g m~(-2) and was significantly superior to control.
