摘要

India has a large network of river Systems flowing in all directions. While the rivers of the North are both snow and rainfed those of the Central Plateau and the South are entirely rainfed. Broadly speaking about 85% to 90% of the riverflows come during the monsoon necessitating creation of storages at mounting costs on one side, submergence, rehabilitation in the development of these resources therefore obviously lies in good water management from the resources already built so that the gains are consolidated This paper reviews the state-of the-art in water management in this country and presented some methods for its upgradation.
