摘要

This is a collaborative research project between occupational therapy staff at Brunei University and those at a mental health National Health Service (NHS) trust in London. The National Deaf Services (NDS), based at the trust, provides services for adults who are Deaf and have mental health difficulties, including an inpatient service, day programmes and a range of supporting services. This project provides insight into the barriers that Deaf adults who have experienced mental health difficulties may face when seeking employment. The term Deaf with a capital 'D' denotes Deaf people as a cultural and linguistic minority group, who use sign language as their first language (British Deaf Association 2000).
