Quality-assured screening for diabetic retinopathy deliwered in primary care in Ireland:

Diabetic retinopathy is one of the most common causes of visual impairment in the adult population. This complication is largely preventable with optimal medical management, including regular retinopathy screening. The provision of population-based screening programmes has been prioritised at national and international J.evel. However, at present there is no population-based retinopathy screening programme for people with diabetes in Ireland. The aim of this study was to evaluate the performance of a community-based screening initiative, which utilised existing resources in the community.
