摘要

Acid mine drainage is a very common environmental pollution problem which occurs worldwide in the miningregion. Acid mine drainage forms when sulphide minerals in rocks are exposed to oxidizing conditions in coaland metal mining, highway construction and other large scale excavation. The acid mine drainage problem ispresently much more severe as a result of increasing activity of the mining industry. In India the AMD problemis intensely localized in North Eastern coalfields of India. Thus there is an urgent need in research regardingcontrol and abatement of AMD. It appears that the majority of the passive system are effective in controllingAMD, but there was wide variation in each system type, so improved reliability and efficiency are needed. Thusin this paper an attempt has been made to overview the recent development in controlling acid mine drainageproblem.
