Parsley, black cohosh, kava, garlic, lavender, and all their culinary and medicinal cousins will be in attendance at North America's first national Herb Day. On October 14th, and throughout the preceding week, retail stores, libraries, gardens, and parks will feature herb related activities, such as live cooking demonstrations, seasonal herbal handcrafts, children's herb-themed activities, and in-store natural beauty makeovers. A diverse cast of herb community members will participate in this inaugural event, including herbalists and health care providers; authors, teachers, and lecturers; herbal products manufacturers and marketers; retailers and distributors of herbal goods; and representatives from various botanical gardens. Topics for herb day will focus on profiles of common herbs, herb safety, preserving medicinal herbs, and current research. Vitamin Shoppe plans to hold events in all 280 of its stores and GNC will host in-store activities and special offers.
